Kaiten Books: New manga publisher

Bringing a carousel of new manga to the west

It seems there has never been a better time to be a western fan of manga. Right now we are getting a wide range of releases from the big publishers like Viz Media, Kodansha and Yen Press as well as some cracking titles from Seven Seas and Denpa. But that’s not all, another new manga publisher is on the scene in the west, Kaiten Books.

Based out of Southern California, Kaiten Books promises a wide variety of releases. It’s only fitting that their name references conveyor belt sushi resturants (kaiten-zushi) with all that choice for you to sample. The company is started by dedicated fans who are passionate about localising the best series for us English speakers in the west. Keniten Books currently have four planned releases coming up, with two formally announced.

Loner Life in Another World

Haruka is just your average high school loner, minding his own business and keeping to himself as he makes it through his high school career, until one day—he’s suddenly sent to another world alongside the rest of his class!

Loner Life in Another World (by Shoji Goji) will be Kaiten Books debut. Based on the Light Novel of the same name, this isekai about a high school loner will be released 31st of March on Amazon.

Skin, Ryugasaki-san!

Shed that Skin Ryugasaki-san kaiten books

Due to her unique biological makeup, she sheds her skin multiple times a year. This wouldn’t ordinarily be an issue, but she suddenly finds herself (or rather, her skin) the target of a classmate’s affections. The peculiar Yugami-kun has a particular interest in reptiles, and Ryugasaki-san’s unique physiological features have caught his inquisitive, meticulous eye. Thus begins the story of a budding romance between two very unusual individuals.

Next up is ecchi rom-com Shed that Skin, Ryugasaki-san! (by Kazutomo Ichitomo). An unusual tale of boy meets lizard girl, their budding romance and showing that beauty isn’t just skin deep. At this time, Shed that Skin, Ryugasaki-san! does not have a release date.

These first two announced titles show the planned variety; we can only imagine what the other two releases will be! Here at Manga Worth Reading, we can’t wait to read these new releases and wish Kaiten Books the best of luck. For the latest news, follow Kaiten Books on Twitter.
